Ceiling systems successfully tested at the Fraunhofer IPA for their suitability for use in cleanrooms
Various ceiling system manufacturers have recently had their products tested and certified at the Fraunhofer IPA in accordance with VDI 2083 Part 8. Among others, the ceiling systems were tested for use in pharmaceutical productions, the food industry and the electronics industry.
In order to be able to use ceiling systems in “clean” manufacturing environments, they must comply with high cleanroom and cleanliness suitability requirements. For example, these requirements are concerned with the emission of particulate airborne contamination, the ease with which the ceiling systems can be cleaned, resistance to chemicals typically found in disinfection and cleaning agents and the emission of highly-volatile organic ntamination.
The test procedures were selected in careful alignment with typical utilization scenarios of the product to be tested. As a result, the engineers and scientists at the Fraunhofer IPA were able to obtain a clear picture of the suitability of the tested ceiling systems for use in cleanroom environments. The tests showed that effective ceiling systems can be utilized for a wide range of purposes in “clean” manufacturing.
All types of production media and equipment are tested at the Fraunhofer IPA for their cleanroom and cleanliness suitability and subsequently awarded the IPA “Tested Device” seal which can be used in the relevant branches of industry as a marketing tool.
