In many fields of technology, a clean manufacturing area and a high degree of component cleanliness are essential in order to achieve the desired product quality. Up till now, it has not been possible to obtain large-surface recordings of the level of contamination of technical surfaces using standard measuring techniques.
At the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation, a new prototype called GroundControl has been developed for measuring particle levels on surfaces. For the first time, GroundControl permits large areas of technical surfaces to be measured reproducibly as far as their level of contamination is concerned. It is now possible to assess cleaning results obtained from cleaning processes and systems quantitatively. We provide the following services:
